The following precepts were written in order to give the more advanced guitarist some advice beyond that of how to actually play the instrument. The author considers them essential pointers on not only how to keep your playing constantly moving forward, but also on how to keep it fresh and original.

And finally, whether a complete novice or an accomplished virtuoso, every player should be able look upon their horizon, and recognise that which is just beyond them. Reaching your horizon is of course an impossible task, as the closer you get to it, the more of it you unveil. In other words, the more you achieve, the more you see what is further achievable. Never lose sight of your horizon, however, and never stop striving to reach it, despite how impossible a task it may seem. Because, as with many things in life, what matters isn't where you end up, but what you learn along the way.
